The awkward questions.
Is there a free trial?
No, and that is deliberate. A trial that quietly turns into a charge is a bad way to start. The free plan has no time limit on it, so take as long as you like to decide whether the app is any use to you.
Who takes the payment?
Apple on iPhone, Google on Android. Your subscription is managed in your App Store or Google Play account, and you cancel it there. Biojrnl never sees your card details.
Can I change plan later?
Yes, in either direction. Moving up takes effect straight away. Moving down takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, which is how the stores handle it.
What happens to my data if I stop paying?
Nothing is deleted. You drop back to the free plan, and your own record stays readable and exportable. The paid kinds of record, blood results, vaccinations, documents and travel, become view-only: what is there stays and can still be exported, but you cannot add to it. Managed profiles are paused, because the free plan has no room for them; a paused profile cannot be opened or exported until you are back on a plan that includes it, and it comes back as it was. The same pause applies to profiles you help manage for someone else as a co-manager: your access rests until either of you is back on a plan that includes it. Advanced medication schedule and supply settings from a paid plan are kept and paused until you subscribe again.
Does one subscription cover the whole family?
Family and Care are about profiles you manage inside your own account, which is how caring usually works: one person keeps the record for a parent or a child. A co-manager you invite needs a Family or Care plan of their own to accept the invitation; once they have accepted, they work inside that profile under your plan. A guest uses the free app, with no subscription needed on their side.
Why is Biojrnl paid at all?
Because the alternative is advertising, and advertising in a health app means selling what you wrote down. Subscriptions keep the incentives pointed at you rather than at whoever would like to buy your data.
